Copyright – a very brief explanation and warning
1. Where the names of Alison Rowley, Laurel Swift and Matt Norman are on the sheet music, the person named has copyright in the harmonised /composed / arranged music parts, and also the tune where they have composed it for BVB. (The melodies that are traditional folk tunes are of course not copyright and are available to anyone) In other words, Alison, Laurel and Matt have a legal right to control who can make a copy of it. This means that you should not reproduce the music in any form for anything outside Brigstowe Village Band, (in particular, not copy it to anyone else), without their express permission.
2. The way the music is set out on the page (the typographical arrangement) is also copyright – so you should not copy the music sheets for anything except Brigstowe Village Band purposes.
3. The Brigstowe Village Band music is not registered with the Performing Rights Society ( PRS )
4. Laurel is happy for other groups to play her arrangements, with due acknowledgement to the arranger – however her pieces should not be performed in public by other groups in the South West of England
Basically, if people not currently members of Brigstowe Village Band want copies of these arrangements, you need to ask permission from Alison, Laurel or Matt.
