Brigstowe Village Band

With regret ,we have decided to cancel our performance at the  Monk Road  Street Party .   Colin has just been down to the site again ( at 3pm) to check levels of shelter, breeze etc and whilst there is limited cover , and the organiser Carine is very willing to rally round and get a gazebo we don’t think it will be enough to protect against the debilitating effect of the heat 

I apologise to those of you who may have postponed other plans to play this gig . I have written to the organisers who are sorry but understand . I am sure they will call on us again .

Alison here – there won’t be any fiddles at this gig so I’ve added some comments to Liz’s set list so that the fiddle parts are covered by the wind and boxes. You’ll need to make a note of these changes – I think my own method would be a post-it note on my music, but whatever works for you!

Dear BVB 

Sorry I won’t be with you at Newark and Trendlewood – a holiday booked with the family last November !

Alison mailed me yesterday and clearly she was very pleased with Sunday’s rehearsal  and how much work individual players had put in to prepare themselves .

Good to know that everyone, especially Lyn is so well prepared .

I have allowed a bit more time for setting up taking account of the time to get into car park and through to playing space. 

Please factor in time to get through the school’s signing-in procedure which will probably be in place for child safeguarding.  I would guess that the procedure will be to report to reception on arrival, and they will guide us to the venue.

NOVA SCOTIA CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER

It is looking as if the sun is going to smile on us on Sunday at the Nova Scotia.11.30-12.30

Change of plan – forget band clothes – just dress up in warm layers and put flowers on music stands and hats if you are wearing them.

We will need to check   before we start  that we have a good tune line for each piece
