Time to update your 2021 diary with BVB events. Lots to look forward to.

2021 Rehearsal dates can be found here. January, February and March rehearsals will be on Zoom. We hope to work on recording another tune – more details to follow.

Laurel will not be available to lead the April rehearsal so we will be welcoming back Matt Norman as our guest leader.

We hope to run a day long workshop in June.

And …… we have a 2021 gig in the diary – a return visit to West Kington for their Harvest Festival in October. Details can be found here.

Hopefully there will be lots more to come.

Remember the New Year Cabaret Party last January? How could we forget the poems, playing, conjuring tricks, collaborative sight reading and the outstanding TURNIP PRIZE competition of 2020.

Join us this year over Zoom to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

Family and friends welcome. Dust off your party piece – favourite song, tune, poem, dance, joke, juggling, magic act …….. individuals or groups – we know you’re a talented bunch.

There will be a quiz and prizes – plus anything else we can dream up!

Dressing ‘up’ welcome.

Liz will make up the programme and send out details.

We are very proud to have produced a fantastic video to support fundraising for the Southmead Buskathon – raising money to support the Southmead Hospital Charity.

Many thanks to everyone involved – particularly John Mills and Laurel.

Now we need to distribute it far and wide in order to raise lots of money for the Southmead Buskathon.

Due to COVID19 band outgoings have been low this year.

We therefore are giving everyone a subs payment holiday for the first quarter of 2021.

No subs are due until 1 April 2021.

Thank you all for your continuing support through this difficult year.

The next BVB rehearsal led by Laurel on Sunday 6th December will again be in zoom form.

We are putting the final touches to our audio recording of Banbury Bill. We hope to use it in the virtual lockdown presentation to raise money for the Southmead Hospital Buskathon Charity.

It would be great to include a few more recordings (especially from trumpets, flutes and fiddles!)

Detailed instructions of how to do a recording can be found here – just scroll down to Laurels post dated August 6th. It really is quite easy and when we are all mixed together no one will stand out.

Please take part and help raise lots of money for Southmead Hospital.

The next BVB rehearsal on Sunday 22 November 2 – 4.15 pm will be in virtual zoom form.

Dust off your hats and waistcoats – we plan to dress in our BVB finery for this to get some images of the zoom rehearsal to accompany the Banbury Bill recording, which hopefully can be used to support fundraising for the Southmead Hospital Buskathon Charity (more details to follow)

Brigstowe Village Band – Covid secure rehearsal procedures 

At the time of writing nothing has changed since the last rehearsal , but the steering committee would be grateful if you would remind yourself of the regulations . 

Please look at the website daily in case because of rising infection numbers we think it wise to cancel.

Our licence for Zoom ( and a session that lasts for longer than 40 mins ) comes from Laurel , but she is not running this practice so I am afraid we cannot offer Zoom for this practice . 

We will be back on Zoom for those who prefer it on November 22^nd

The next BVB rehearsal led by Laurel will be on Sunday 18 October, Main Village Hall, Long Ashton Community Centre from 2 – 4.15pm.

Long Ashton Village Hall is permitted to hold 26 people under Covid regulations. There are over 30 of us in Brigstowe Village Band. We are hoping that everyone who wants to will be able to attend the rehearsal. It would be helpful if you could email Fritjof at BVB.committee@gmail.com if you are definitely not able to attend.

Laurel will bring her computer to the rehearsal so anyone who would rather take part from home can connect with us via Zoom (log in details will be provided nearer the time). This worked successfully at the last rehearsal.

We must continue to adhere to the Covid secure procedures – please read through them again before the rehearsal:
